Free things to see and do:
Museums - Most of the major museums offer free admission on the 1st Sunday of each month. Children 18 yrs and younger are always free.
La Fête de la Musique - June 21 - World Music Day is a lively street music festival celebrated throughout the city in the streets, cafes and bars.
Paris Jazz Festival - From mid-June until the end of July, jazz groups play every Saturday and Sunday in the big open hall of the Parc Floral de Vincennes. The festival is free with entry to the park.
Paris Plage - The banks of the Seine are transformed into a beach and boardwalk every summer for a month. Located on the right bank by the Louvre and it stretches north and south for 3km, it offers lots of great activities for all.
Bastille Day - July 14 - Music and dance throughout the city and fireworks.
Free Concerts - July - October held in Jardin du Luxembourg.
Nuit Blanch (White Night) - Museums, galleries, city hall and even swimming pools open their doors all night to visitors with free entry in October.
Harvest Festival of Montmartre - Held the 2nd weekend each October, celebrate the districts distinction as the only wine growing part of Paris. Includes tastings, grape stomping, fireworks, concerts and a parade.
Eiffel Tower Show - Enjoy the fabulous light show for 5 minutes every hour on the hour until 1am (2am in the summer).
Ice Skating - Ice skating rinks are set up at the Hotel de Ville and Gare Montparnasse each winter. Admission is free with just a fee for skate rentals.
Galeries Lafayette - This large department store holds free weekly fashion shows every Friday at 3pm on the 7th floor from March - December. Reservations required.
Promendade Plantee - See the city from an old railway line Bastille to the Bois de Vincennes. Stroll along the 2.9 mi footpath of trees and flowers.
Street Skating - Skating every Friday evening at 10pm, when weather permits. It begins at Place Raoul Dautry in the 14th district for a 3hr ride about 30km long, with various routes each week.
