Comments:What a wonderful location - seems a shame that the information left for guests is so sparse. No food/ drink/shopping recommendations at all - just info that it's a great neighbourhood! Would love to see a little couch so that two people could sit comfortably to watch tv and some of the kitchen utensils need a little refreshing. But if you are eating out and are out and about during the day, neither of those are likely big concerns. A fairly good use of a small space and really appreciated having the washing machine and free calls home.

Comments:NB - the apartment phone now works through the Wi Fi box. Definitely needs
explanation on how to use as the old original hand set was still where it was on
previous visits. There was no explanation in the notes of this change.
I had a great time in the apartment (despite the weather outside - this allowed me
to visit many of the smaller museums, art galleries missed on previous visits.
Definitely hope to come again.
Regards to all who handled my booking.

Comments:I was unable to find directions on use of the apartment phone - i.e. how to retrieve messages on the phone. I DO appreciate that an effort was made to include a more comfortable sitting chair than the two straight-backed chairs at the small table! I loved the location for its proximity to the Metro and the Monoprix RIGHT next door! Very convenient! Once I learned the push-then-pull routine for the two first floor entrances, it all worked very well - always a bit of a learning curve!
Once again, I really appreciated having the keys in hand since my arrival was delayed about 6 hours due to changed flights enroute

Comments:Having the supermarket and Metro outside was a definite plus.
Apartment seemed a little shabby. But not unacceptable.
Washing machine was good to have.
Should we have turned the hot water off during our days out. Information a bit sketchy on that. Plus if you had too many electric appliances on it made the electricity go off.
We found it good value for money, and would use it again.

Comments:The apartment is truly cozy and is situated in a very convenient place for metro and bus transportation. The proximity to delicious bakeries, only a 10 minute walk away, made it perfect. The Post Office is also in the convenient direction. The only drawback of the apartment, was the slope of the ceiling on one side of the bed. My husband bumped his head several times when he got up from that side of the bed.

Comments:I sent a detailed evaluation to client services a few weeks ago. Here is a copy:
We highly recommend Vacation in Paris. All of our interactions with their representatives--as well as with the apartment managers--were professional, appropriate, and personally satisfying. Being able to use PayPal for payment transactions was efficient and worry-free, unlike the cash Euro payment on arrival that some other rental sites require. Moreover, during our stay when we reported that the apartment TV was not working, the apartment owners responded with reasonable speed in replacing it, and they later agreed to an adjustment on our rental cost that we requested through Vacation in Paris. We were gratified that everyone treated us "comme il faut."
As to the apartment, we found it very well cleaned, comfortable, functional, and ideally located, with easy metro access and within walking distance to many great sites, including the Louvre and L'Orangerie (with the Monet water-lily murals). There's also a nice view of Paris rooftops from the windows. We had some cold days during our stay and were pleased that the heating in the apartment is very comfortable. There is plenty of hot water for showers, and the kitchen has a small refrigerator, two-burner stove and microwave, French press coffee maker, toaster, and electric hot water kettle for tea; so everything is more than adequate for making breakfast, picnic lunches, and occasional dinners. The kitchen is tiny, and you really can't choreograph two people in it at once--but the sous chef can do the chopping and other food prep on the dining table while the chef holds forth at the stove.
The apartment is only 5 minutes away via Rue Grenata (see Google maps) from our favorite Paris market street--Rue Montorgueil. La Maison Stohrer, the oldest patisserie on Paris, is on that street. Their Baba au Rhum and Ali Baba are of historic merit, but everything we bought there was superb. Moreover, since they open at 7:30 a.m., we got fresh-baked buttery hot croissants to take back to the apartment for breakfast. You can also get very good croissants and other baked goods (as well as a full line of groceries) at Monoprix (sort of a French Target or Walmart), which is conveniently located right next door to the apartment building on Blvd. de Sebastopol--but they don't open until 9 a.m. Rue Montorgueil also has farmers' market fresh vegetable stands--and we enjoyed the fresh white asparagus which was just in season. The other stores are worth exploring, and at the base of the street--not far from Eglise St. Eustache (which has a Rubens painting and a free organ concert on Sunday afternoons)--there's a Lebanese restaurant with wonderful falafel--as good as the falafel you have to stand in line for at the famous L'As du Falafel at 34 Rue des Rosiers in the Marais, which is also within walking distance from the apartment--and so is the Cafe Breizh at 109 Rue Vieille du Temple, which has great Bretagne-style crepes and galettes. You can also walk to Bazar Hotel de Ville (the French Macy's), but you'll probably want to take a metro (change at Strasbourg-St. Denis) to get to the gorgeous Galeries Lafayette (the French Bloomingdale's-plus), which has a fantastic gourmet food department in the men's store, where you have have a great lunch.
The apartment has a washing machine, but we did not use it. There's a pull-out type clothesline in the bathroom that you can use if you hand wash socks and underwear. The beds are very comfortable, the wifi works well, and the new TV has very good picture resolution. On the TV you can get BBC and National Geographic channels as well as French channels. Even if you don't understand French, watch some of the commercials--many have a delightful, gentle touch unlike the insistent American genre. Since there was only one easy chair in the apartment, we had to take turns switching to one of the two hard table chairs--and that doesn't make for comfortable

Comments:Though on the 6th floor with double glazing in the windows, the traffic noise on Sebastopol (a one-way street and main thoroughfare from Chatelet towards Republique and Gare da Nord and Gare de L'est) was very loud with car horns tooting and police sirens particularly late at night and from Thursday to Sunday nights.) No breadknife - seemed to be missed by previous guests as well - necessary to slice baguettes with crust. In your notes about the apartment you mention free calls to North America - but in the owner's notes Australia was also among countries for free calls. Perhaps you could check with owner/contact and if the country of the guest is among the free ones, perhaps this should be mentioned on the information sheet.
Hair dryer and iron are located in a cupboard above the toilet (not obvious, looks more like cover for hot water!). There was a clothes washer as listed in your description but no dishwasher as listed in the apartment details left on the coffee table.
I did not use the back entrance - not well lit at night. Arriving, instructions from Sebastopol should include after the lift to the 2nd floor turn left towards B(big gold letter on wall)and you'll see the 4 stairs to the lift to the 6th floor. I did not find it inconvenient to use this entrance all the time - well lit at all times, at street entrance and lobby. Felt safe.
I travelled from CDG by the Rossi Bus to Opera and then walked to the left around Place d'Opera to rue Quatre September where you can catch the Bus 20 to Reamur-Sebastopol on Reamur rue - just around the corner about 50m from Sebastopol and Monoprix - level walking all the way - no steps like the Metro - cost - one (1)ticket. When I left, I caught the Bus 20 (1 metro ticket) at the same stop and travelled down to Gare de Lyon where the bus stopped opposite the Air France Bus in Diderot - leaves every half hour (1/4 to and 1/4 past)for CDG. NO STEPS. Service starts around 6.30 am. Time table is on wall of bus stop shelter.
I enjoyed my stay of 24 nights - very central to other Paris points - loved walking around the various ways to the market streets and Pompidou etc. This was not my first trip to Paris using Vacation in Paris studio apartments. Ideal for me.

Comments:I would more than likely use the room again (great location and generally comfortable), but we did find it quite hot/muggy which meant leaving the windows open and the street below was very busy and noisy - day and night.
I would recommend it to folks but let them know they'd need earplugs at the very least, or to be used to street noise.
A good fan would be a great little extra in the space (if there was one we didn't see it). We also found the pillows a bit flat which we weren't used to (but we all have our personal preferences!)
Loved that it had a washing machine.

Comments:Not quite sure how to respond to some of these. While kitchen, bathroom, and furnishings weren't "excellent" compared to all possible apartments, they certainly were for the price of this one.
My main reservation about renting this again was that during my 2-week stay, I would have liked to have been able to look out, as well as up. Skylights did provide good light, though, and I could see the sky.
Overall, great apartment, and I loved the closeness of the Monoprix and the metro.

Comments:Sirens from police and horns blown from motorcycle drivers went late into the night and early in the morning. Ear plugs solved that problem.
There was very little toilet paper in the apartment. I left 5 rolls there when I left for later guest.
I never found instructions on how to use the tv, but really didn't need to watch it anyhow.
Enjoyed the wine, Thank you!
I had stored the password codes for the building in my iphone, but it was stolen while I was at a cafe. After that I stored the password codes on a piece of paper in my pocket. I spent about 30 minutes in the rain outside the apartment waiting on someone to leave the building so that I could get in. It might be a good idea to remind people to take the codes with them on old fashion paper instead of in very highly desired iphones or other devices that are easily pick pocketed. There was no key to the trash and no instructions as where to take the trash. I ended up leaving it in trash cans on the street.
I very much enjoyed having a place that I felt safe in and hope to return soon. Thank you!

Comments:First of all, we LOVED the apartment - it is miniscule, but it was very adequate for our needs. Although the neighborhood lacks charm, it is very functional. Being so close to the metro station and within walking distance (kind of a long walk, but still) There are a few small things that could be attended to in order to make this apartment even nicer, such as fixing the loose toilet paper holder and the loose hooks on the back of the bathroom door. There was a pretty bad smell in the kitchen.

Comments:One towel each was skimpy. Like most women, I would have liked a separate towel to wrap my hair in. Also, I didn't feel particularly safe. A man who had been hanging out in front of the building walked in behind another couple and he tried to squeeze into the tiny elevator with me and my husband, but we said no room. Really, it's the size of a small phone booth. The elevator only takes you up one floor and we saw the man wandering the halls like he didn't know where he was going. Also, the air conditioner buzzed loudly for about an hour before it calmed down. About every minute or two for an hour it made a sound like a door buzzer. Unfortunate that it happened while we were trying to sleep. Overall, I thought the apartment had charm and was good for the price.

Comments:I made comments in my reply: there should have been more than one towel per guest for an entire week; the bathroom is basic, the mop is left in a pail by the toiler and is musty; the room wasn't ready when we arrived-but the owner contacted the cleaning person and it was done by 4pm (we were tired an had hoped to shower sooner after our long flight) BUT the benefits were the price, well maintained building, safe neighborhood, convenient location; it saved us $ to be able to eat breakfast, store lunch food in the fridge to pack for the day-we made dinner in the apt twice I hope this helps!

Comments:When we arrived, we found that the fridge had been turned off and so REEKED and there was water all over the inside of the fridge. At first, we thought the fridge was leaking, but as we started trying to clean it up, we discovered that ice must have been left in the ice box before it was turned off and had melted everywhere. We were able to clean it up, but it was a pretty big mess to deal with upon arrival. Also, it would be really nice if the directions to the apartment from the airport were a little more complete. It would be great if the instructions called out which train line to take from the airport, that a change is necessary, where to make that change, etc. We really like the apartment and we were grateful it was so centrally located. Comments:As you have probably heard before, this is a cute little apartment, superbly located. BUT repeated suggestions that could improve clients' stays greatly have been ignored. These are requests for a larger dining table, toilet rolls, a second armchair and bread knife. To which we would add instructions for operating the wall heaters. For the litigiously sensitive (and most Americans seem to be), a warning that the hot water can be scalding and the shower compartment floor is slippery when wet would be prudent. None the less, on location alone a great place to stay in Paris.

Comments:There were a lot of dust bunnies on the floor, etc. but otherwise the apartment was clean and tidy. The bathroom issues were that the toiled seat is cracked making it uncomfortable. many people remarked about it in the book so not a new issue but still not fixed. the other issue was that what looked like the exhaust fan in the shower was hanging from the ceiling and looks dirty around it. the furnishings were fine, but nothing special. I was unable to locate the garbage area in the building so had to find an alternate method of taking out the trash when I left.

Comments:The skirting boards and the radiators all needed a good dusting. The paintwork could have done with a new coat of gloss paint. One of the castors was missing off the easy chair. It would have been better to have 2 easy chairs as the apartment is for 2 people. The dining table was too small. The dining chairs were ok but not matching. We only had 2 bath towels for our stay, I expected there to be 2 hand towels as well. The toilet seat was cracked and this had been pointed out by previous occupants which is not acceptable for hygiene. There was only one cereal bowl. The electric kettle lead was too short to reach from the plug to the surface it was expected to sit on which is rather unsafe.
Although there was noise from outside the building this could be expected as it was on a busy road in the centre of Paris. We kept the windows shut but I wouldn't have wanted to stay here in the middle of the summer heat!
Despite these failings we really enjoyed our stay in the apartment which didn't spoil our stay. These are suggestions which would vastly improve the overall facilities and ambiance of the apartment.

Comments:We had an excellent overall experience. The location was perfect, we felt very secure in the building, the instructions were great, the elevators worked, and it was better AND more affordable than a hotel room. The negatives: I was lucky that I was at a villa rental in Provence the week before and had packed a sharp knife for bread. That little kitchen would really benefit from a serrated knife. I feel bad for people who don't pack one. And there should be a dish towel or paper towels provided for the kitchen. Other negative was toilet paper. It's not an expensive thing to provide for the guests and it really is incredibly inconvenient if there's not enough. The biggest problem for us was the air conditioner and the buzzing noise it made whether it was on or off. It has to be off for a really long time to stop periodically buzzing. The buzzing is loud enough to make you not fall asleep or it can wake you up once you finally drift off. It's my understanding that a lot of A/C units are like that in Paris, so I don't think it's something that can be remedied, but we wish we'd have known what to expect that first night. The location really is excellent - the Monoprix and metro stop right there can't be beat!

Comments:I found the apartment extremely convenient for a single traveller, for any more than one person it would possibly be a little cramped. Location was great with everything I needed nearby.
I did read the comments from other visitors about the lack of toilet paper etc and wondered if they were expecting a fully serviced apartment which obviously these aren't. I did not find this an issue but would suggest that perhaps this could be bought to the guests attention prior to arrival. I found they also complained about musty smells and found mops left in buckets in the toilet area. This could be avoided when the apartment is cleaned prior to the next visitor.
I have to make one more observation, that perhaps people shouldn't fiddle with things that don't really concern them. When I first arrived and was let in by the owners we observed that the TV was not working. It appears a previous guest had fiddled with the setup there, I guess to get his computor working and thanks to that the whole system needed to be reinstalled. Which unfortunately didn't happen while I was there. Again not really a problem as I was only there for a few nights but it does need to be spelt out to some people.
Apart from those observations everything was fine. Even the lifts were working which was another complaint from previous guests. If I'm in Paris again I would definitely consider this apartment again.

Comments:This apartment is small but suited our stay as we were only there to sleep. The beggar/homeless person just outside the door is a bit off putting but a part of Paris I guess. Key does not open bin room door.
Having no lift from the second floor to the sixth was a shock as we only found out when we arrived in Paris. The lift was one of the attractions.
I believe this apartment needs a good overview of electrical fittings and a good dust and clean.
I seem to be complaining but believe if you are not told, you don't know as I hqave found myself with an apartment I rent out.
However we had a great stay in Paris, loved the vicinity to Metro and walking distance to many sights of Paris. Came home much fitter!!!!!!!!!

Comments:The apartment was moldy and dusty. The bathmat dirty-- I washed it. One towel smelled like chemicals. The other was fresh. Thank goodness the AC worked. Otherwise sleep from street noise would have been impossible. The front elevator was clearly marked under repairs until the end of May-- and the key to use the other elevator was inside the apartment, so 6 flights of stairs to figure this out, with suitcase in tow, was a bit much for a 62 year old woman.

Comments:The location of the building is fantastic, near all sites. Providing free phone service is a great plus. We had to deal with the uncertainty of the strike and what was open or not, and the phone allowed us to check on things. We found the heating system difficult to turn on, it gets too hot or too cold. Since we were in the apartment (not sleeping) for a few hours at a time, we could not keep the place comfortable. The elevator that worked was from the 3rd to the 6th floor. the elevator from 1st to 3rd floor was out of service, seems to be out for a long time and there was no evidence that it will be fixed soon. Also, we could not access the internet to use our laptop as we need some access according to the instructions on arrival at the apartment. The key to the garbage room did not work, it went in but will not turn to open the door. The lady janitor (who tried the key) was very nice and she opened the room for us.
Thank you for the bottle of wine, it was very nice.
Overall we had a nice visit and enjoyed the city and sights, and would be glad to get an apartment from you but will want an apartment a little bigger and more comfortable than 176. Thank you

Comments:The towels in the apartment were nice and new, but may have been too new (e.g. never laundered before?) They were dark purple and left lots of dark purple lint all over our faces and bodies every time we dried off from the shower. Yuck. Also the sheets were not very fresh - they may have just been on the bed for a long time since the apartment was used before? We just hoped that they had not been slept on since their last washing!
There was also a strong smell in the apartment that we could only figure came from the string mop that was stashed in the corner of the WC. It wasn't a really bad smell, but not too pleasant either. The weather was nice so we were able to open windows often to air it out, and keeping the WC door closed helped, but it would be good to get that (moldy?) mop out of there and freshen up the air a bit!
Overall we really enjoyed the apartment and would be happy to stay there again.

Comments:The neighborhood seemed somewhat sketchy...lots of homeless on the sidewalk. I found it unexpected and uncomfortable. The buildings elevators were problematic at best. I had just gotten out of a cast and had to lug my suitcases up several flights of stairs upon my arrival. The rear elevator only went up to 5 and the apartment was on 6. When going down the elevator came to 6 - cannot figure it out but the problem was consistent.
The apartment itself was fine. Clean and pleasant. A lovely garrett-style apartment. Close to transportation and easy walking distance to lovely local shops. As I don't drink wine, I left the bottle behind. The bathroom was clean and functional. Not really.

Comments:The place needed some basic maintenance - eg: so paint flakes don't fall onto the bed when you open the window. The shower drain was very slow. I was surprised at how much road noise, sirens and honking there was even up on the 6th floor. I guess I'm just not used to city life? The towels shed vast amounts of brown fluff, so we and the apartment often looked dirty - I vacuumed many times during our stay. It would be nice if they got a larger kettle, so that it doesn't take more than one kettle-full to fill the coffee press... and a bread knife, as prior residents had suggested. There was no more room to write in the book in the room. The location, the air-conditioning the beds, the arrangements, the elevators and detailed instructions were all great. Perhaps you could add a picture of the kitchen to your listing? The kitchen was more than I expected from the listing. The internet and free calls home also added lots to the stay. We did enjoy the wine!

Comments:Both kitchen and bathroom were very basic. Kitchen: limited cutlery, bread knife, chipped dinner plates... Bathroom: towels - only 3 for 2 people for 2 weeks!- were shedding brown fluff to a point that we had to vacuum time and again to keep the rest of the studio clean. No hand or face towels. No soap. The A/C, while it worked when turned on, made a loud "whirring" noise every 15 seconds or so and kept me awake. I had to purchase ear plugs to get to sleep! Very limited closet space. Wile I would not rent this studio again, I would use your services again when I plan to return to Paris or visit other cities where you provide apartments.

Comments:Overall, a nice apartment, especially when one considers the reasonable cost. The location is very central, we were able to walk to Notre Dame de Paris, The Lourve, and the Centre Pompidou with ease. There's a metro stop just steps from the building entrance, with easy access to Gare du Nord. The Monoprix on the ground level of the building is a great resource, too. So, great location, though the street is very busy. Still, very little noise made it into the apartment.
The air conditioning was welcome, though it was noisy. The overall condition of the apartment was fine, save for a few areas to improve. First, a proper floor mat for outside the shower would have made a big difference. Also, some anti-slip tape for inside the shower would help, too. The clothes washing machine was very handy, and the directions helped a lot. But, I would suggest providing better English directions for the microwave. Still, minor complaints. Include an extra towel and a floor mat for the shower, and I would be happy ;)
Finally, the Vacation in Paris team deserves a lot of credit. This was my 1st trip out of the US, and they made the entire process easier than I could have hoped for. Great communication through all stages of the rental process and everything was exactly as they indicated. Thanks - you guys do a great job!

Comments:Bathroom - good except shower was very small and floor slippery - a rubber mat would help.
Towels were new and shed fluff all over.
The noise outside the building was just the noise of a big city. The elevator system is quite complicated and the info in the apartment about the big elevator at the back of the building was incorrect. We could go down but could not figure out how to get back in until the last couple of days.

Comments:Bathroom: two bath towels were provided; one had what looked like bleach spots all over it. They were purple, so the stains were very noticeable. No hand towels or face cloths--we had to buy some. There are so many apts. for rent in Paris as we are sure you are aware. To remains competitive, owners of your apts. should be aware that travelers are willing to put up with a bit of "rustic" atmosphere, but all apts. should be capable of being spotles

Comments:I wasn't aware that the people who rearranged our apartment turned off the water heater when they left. We took two days worth of cold showers until we found out that you're supposed to turn the water heater off and we didn't notice the knob until we read the back door notice. The location is absolutely wonderful right next to the easy to use Reamur/Sebastopol metro and in a safe neighborhood, though there was a man who used the Monoprix sidewalk as a urinal. Nothing unusual for a big city. The building people were very nice and polite as well. I did find the kitchen a bother to use because of the lack of utensils, knives, etc. So we just ate out mostly. Other than that, I really liked your apartment and it was a lovely stay in Paris! And we had trouble finding the back entrance on Rue Palestro/the 6th floor elevator, so we just used the front the whole time. The air conditioning didn't work too well so we turned it off the whole time. The fan makes a weird noise as well, but wasn't a huge bother so we just shut it all off. The bathroom was in good condition and was in great shape for a place in Europe!

Comments:I really liked feeling as though I lived in Paris, rather than just being a tourist. It took me a couple of days to get my bearings but once I did I found the location of the apartment to be perfect! I could have skipped the metro completely if I was better at reading a map :) Even though the street below was noisy I could tune it out after a while...it was a heavily travelled street. But being on a main street meant I did not have far to go for the metro or to do some grocery shopping (and a little clothes shopping as my luggage arrived 2 days after I did!). My only wish would have been for a radio and maybe an extra towel. I had a wonderful trip and would do it again in a heartbeat! I had several conversation via email with the staff from Vacation in Paris. Everything from "how do I get to the apartment from the airport" to "aarrrgggghh there is a volcano erupting in Iceland... now what?" and everyone was great! My emails were answered quickly and were not "form letters" meaning I could tell there was a person on the other end. Thank you to everyone!

Comments:Never could get key to open trash bin door, even after another tenant tried to assist. Found box for Iron, Iron was missing. And the comment to leave enough toilet paper for next guest when there was only 1/4 roll there was laughable. Never could find back entrance, either from inside or outside. Tried key fob on all doors I thought was right, to no avail. Also, poss anti-slip pads IN shower good thing, both of us slipped stepping down out of shower.

Comments:the apartment was great-- HOWEVER -- just a couple things to be aware of -- no blow dryer (as was noted in the amenities) and, more importantly, since we were in paris in the dead of winter (and it was freezing), it would have been helpful to know in advance that the heat in the apt. is "rationed" -- turn all heat off at nite and when not in the apt. because paris was sooo cold when we were there, i started referring to our otherwise lovely apt. as the bob crachit attic!:>) i truly appreciate the european energy conservation efforts, but this was a little extreme (and we did cheat just a bit).
MOST important -- the first thing that hit us every time we entered the apt. was the "smoke smell" :>( this wasn't a horrible problem for us, but it could be for someone with serious allergies, etc. it hadn't permeated the furnishings or linens, so i had the feeling that maybe someone (cleaning people?) in the apt short term had been smoking.
again just a few things to be aware of, but none that big a deal for us. altho, i felt the need to make you aware of the above "issues", our vacation in paris and Vacation in Paris experience was positive and i would definitely book one of your apartments (including this one) again. thanx!!

Comments:We found the apartment to be very clean with one exception, however. The anti-slip rubber mat on the bottom of the shower was covered in mold. Otherwise, the cleanliness was fantastic. The bottle of wine was a nice touch, however, not very useful for a pregnant woman and her alcoholic husband. Having another option would be useful, perhaps some chocolate or sparkling water. We had a great time, and found the location of the apartment to be perfect for seeing the whole city. It was the perfect launching point for our daily excursions. We will cetainly use your service again on our next trip to Paris. We will definitely return!
