Comments:We enjoyed our stay at the property on Rue Cler! We shopped locally and the bistro table on the tiny balcony allowed us a lovely chance to celebrate with a glass of rose at the end of each day. Our neighbours all seemed polite and friendly. Location is fantastic. We would highly recommend this apartment and Vacations in Paris as we?ve had great experiences over the past 10 years. Just a very small suggestion-consider rose or white wine in hot weather as the welcome gift, a minor observation and personal preference in the summer.

Comments:Kitchen equipment could do with a bit of a refresh, it's in a food street. Chopping board, bowls weren't really adequate. But that's not why we wouldn't use this property again - we like to do different things each holiday. And we wouldn't recommend it to friends because Rue Cler is a bit too touristy - we played "find the French person" in the street, not always successfully because there were many more tourists than locals, even more than the rest of Paris. Too close to summer perhaps, our previous stays were in the depths of winter and when we return to Paris we will do so in a quieter season. Love your service, so glad you've survived the airbnb onslaught! The apartment itself is lovely and your description of it was very accurate. The drains need clearing - the shower would flood after only a couple of minutes use and material would bubble up from the shower drain when the toilet was flushed, alarmingly. We did tell Tania this, so it may have been attended to already.

Comments:the noise from outside is anywhere from 4:30 to 5:30 in the morning, metallic thumping sound, maybe from Aldi, or trash removal? Nothing you all can control, we got used to it.
for fall/winter months, would be helpful to have a note in a visible location saying there are two heating units, thelocation to turn on the bedroom unit, and a quick note about the equivalent of centigrade / Fahrenheit for the living room unit, and a note it will take the apartment a little while to warm up if the heat has been off for a length of time (we are from Florida, thought we would we never get warm, but all was well after we figured everything out ?.
LOCK IS VERY TOUCHY - may need to be lubricated, requires a great deal of patience!!! Also, perhaps we missed it in initial paperwork, but once we got to the correct floor, we didn?t know which door. No door numbers, maybe just mention ?middle door?.

Comments:This was the third time that we stayed in the apartment at 43 Rue Cler.
We knew the 80 steps up to the apartment floor would be tough although we are in good shape for our age, and they definitely were a challenge, especially the last 20! Thankfully, we had Tania to meet and greet, and she was such a big help getting our luggage up on the first day. Also, luckily, a kind neighbor tenant offered to help us bring the luggage down on our last morning. We never did get the TV to work more than about a half hour at a time in spite of Tania's excellent instructions.
The key and lock for the door was a big challenge; the key turning was quite temperamental, and took time and patience. We absolutely enjoyed our 12-day Paris getaway. We always say that staying in one of your apartments in Paris makes us feel like we are part of the beautiful city. The Rue Cler is a wonderful location. Love visiting the butcher, the cheese shop, the baker, the florist, and the many wonderful cafes and restaurants. The location is superb and so convenient for strolling, browsing, and sightseeing.

It was not an emergency but Tania was very good at coming to fix it. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. The bed in the living room sofa would 'bounce' when the person/people on it rolled over so it was not a great place to sleep.
We did put out the recycling and garbage. It would be helpful if details about what may be recycled was included in the big book. In Canada, it seems like every city has different rules about what can be recycled.

Comments:Only small things which in no way detracted from our stay:
I have already mentioned to Tania about the slow draining of the shower. It was not a problem, but could become one. Overflow could become imminent. There was a bit of an ominous soft gurgle in the bathroom sink when one flushed the toilet. I get that this building is old, I mention it FYI.
Re bath towels, they were adequate, and what we expected. However, since many Americans use this property, it might be appropriate to include washcloths in the bathroom linens. I use one at home and had to use a hand towel to wash my face instead. Two bath towels for 2 people for 9 days is barely minimal, though. A second set would have been much appreciated. Along those lines, a dishrag for the kitchen would be great. I think I was using a cleaning rag from beneath the sink. A dish drainer would have come in handy. It would be helpful to know the Nepresso needs pods. I had to look up the instructions on Google to see how it worked. A note in the House Book about that would be helpful. There were no espresso machine instructions in the House Book, only safety information.
We absolutely loved this apartment. The balcony was wonderful, location great, it was comfy, convenient and charming. We felt like we were coming home at the end of every day. We enjoyed the hum of voices from the cafés below, and bought all our f

Comments:I fell in love with this apartment online and was very much looking forward to our stay here. First impressions were a bit disappointing, as the apartment was quite worn looking -- particularly the couch. The couch was stained with pulls on it and the cushions were ripped at the back, which we could see when we assembled the pull out bed for our daughters. I felt like the pull out bed was going to break every time we put it together in the evenings.
There was also a bad odour in the hallway leading up to the apartment -- which of course is outside of your control.
We still enjoyed our stay -- the terrace and bistro set were lovely and the apartment had a lot of charm. The location is also amazing. It feels like a few small touches would really make a big improvement in the apartment -- a fresh coat of paint, a new couch, removing the un-necessary items from the balcony on the sidelines that clutter the space etc. We stayed in some very nice places on our vacation which had been well maintained -- so we really noticed that the apartment needed some refreshing and didn't quite match the expectations set by the photos.
For the reasons noted, I would hesitate to recommend this property to a friend -- I would be very clear about setting expectations. If a few updates were made to the apartment it would be a different story though -- and I would stay again.. The overall design, location and view make it a very charming property. It was also good value for Paris, so perhaps this is why the upkeep has slipped. I still enjoyed my stay and the positives outweighed the negatives for me.
The VIP service was very professional; the information provided was very helpful. We have stayed in many Airbnbs and find the lock-box process to be very effective. I was surprised to learn that I needed to mail keys back to you.

Comments:We stayed both at the beginning and the end of a tour outside of Paris. The Rue Cler location was absolutely perfect. Close to the Ecole Militaire metro station, wonderful shops and cafes in the Rue Cler. We woke in the morning to the smell of bread baking in the boulangerie, and were lulled to sleep by the sounds of the chatter in the cafes below. Seeing the twinkling top of the Eiffel Tower made it all the more romantic. Thank you for making my husband's first trip to Paris so memorable. We will be back again, and would love to stay in this apartment again. Thank you VIP for another great trip!
Tiles in the shower need to be fixed. Near the drain the flooring gave a little. Felt like maybe dry rot? Should be addressed before more damage is done or someone gets hurt.

Comments:I DO still love this apartment! But in the spirit of "we're all in this together" and in hopes of staying here again, I offer the following:
FYI - One of the window shades in the living room needs to be tightened with a Phillips head screwdriver, which I did not have at my disposal. Every time I (gently) pulled the cord, it would tilt all the way to one side, making it inoperable, and then simply fall off the window onto the floor. Unfortunately, I had to use them a lot because the sun got so hot that they needed to stay down while I was out during the day. I had to stand on tip-toes, or on a chair, and hold it in place with one hand while operating the cord with the other. Some better, more substantial brackets might help keep it from happening again.
Regarding noise -- I happen to like the cafe "white noise" wafting up from the street. Typically the building is very quiet on the inside, but there was one night during my 3-night stay when the upstairs neighbors seemed to be... having wrestling matches? Rearranging furniture? Practicing gymnastics?? between 12:30 and 200am. Then there was quiet for about 30 seconds followed by what sounded like a high-volume floor sander making even more noise than before. They finally stopped after another half hour. -- Very weird, and rather unpleasant to someone already jet-lagged. Hopefully it was a fluke. I only mention it in case others bring it up, so you can identify a pattern if there is one.
re: The Kitchen -- This is really very well-equipped and I enjoy using it. There is just one thing that has become a joke between my husband (also a very smart man!) and me. -- I know this sounds stupid, but the microwave remains a mystery!! The book is no help because there is no way to know which of the mysterious, little, almost invisible icons represent the different functions The book just says, "Select microwave and hit start." But how? .(And you can only SEE the little icons if you crane your neck and shine a flashlight into the black glass of the oven. That was an exciting discovery, but then I realized that seeing them didn't actually help... Do you want the tiny drawing of the pencil dispensing spaghetti? The bad Three Stooges haircut? The wee mountain range? What do they MEAN? ) Just when I think I have it figured out, I realize that the oven IS making noise for the specified period of time (yay) BUT the food remains cold, even after 5-10 minutes, which would make the food blow up in most microwaves! I thought I had tried all the logical combinations of controls in systematic way, but my patience gave out if hunger was a factor. ANYway... an index card with a few lines of instructions saying how to: 1) select the microwave function, 2) set the cook time and 3) set the power before hitting "start" [which I did locate) would be fabulous. :-)

Comments:This property was in an ideal location and suited myself and my husband perfectly. We loved all of the restaurants and shops nearby and close proximity to tourist areas so we could walk everywhere. The welcome bottle of wine was a nice touch that we appreciated. It got a bit warm in the apartment in the late afternoon but opening the balcony doors and windows helped. We couldn't quite figure out the air conditioning unit in the bedroom but it worked fine at night with the fan which drowned out the noise from the streets below. It can get boisterous downstairs as there are two popular cafes but we didn't mind. The view of the Eiffel Tower is lovely and the light show at night can be seen from the balcony which is an added bonus!

Comments:I said that there was too much noise from outside the building, but that was only in the evenings when the crowds down at the cafes were there (we weren't trying to sleep so it was fine) and a couple mornings when the recycling picked up the glass bottles (Friday and Monday mornings). Nothing that would keep us from staying again, but it was pretty loud for quite some time!
The bathroom shower tiles are coming loose on the floor which can be a bit precarious if you step on one, but no problem overall. Just something the owner should look at fixing. The bathroom electrical outlet was in an odd spot, so I ended up using the hair dryer and curling iron in the kitchen with the microwave reflection as a mirror. No complaints, just different!
One other thing, the air conditioning in the bedroom was not vented outside so the hot air blew back into the room. We ended up putting the hose outside and using the curtains to cover the open spot in the doors at night which worked fine. We only had to empty the water tank once during our four days, but I didn't see anything in the information book about doing that so it might be helpful for future renters who stay during a hot spell. The tank needs to be emptied if the air conditioner is used! We absolutely loved the apartment! Would definitely stay again. It was so great to walk out of "our home" onto the busy market street each day. We went to the local shops for picnic items, and stopped for breakfast and dinner some days. Exactly what I envisioned it to be! I loved having a separate living space in the apartment since I'm an early riser and don't want to wake my husband. Thank you, Vacation in Paris, for another wonderful trip! Can't wait to return.

The primary complaint was that the pullout sofa is lower quality and not comfortable, so this property is best suited for 2 people or less. There was some street noise from Rue Cler, but that's part of the buzz and excitement of the location. Views of the Eiffel Tower were a treat, although the balcony wasn't as comfortable as I thought it might be.

They seem to be the original wood boards and are very delicate (broken in a few spots). Please don't get me wrong - they absolutely added to the charm of the apartment, but I worried that were overly fragile and we made a great effort to walk very lightly on them for fear of falling through the floor. And they were very squeaky. Otherwise, we definitely enjoyed our stay!

It was so worth every step though! I would not change a thing. We weren't able to figure out the combo washer and dryer. We could wash but not dry. I am sure it was operator error. But we gave up on it because we did not want to waste valuable Vacation time on studying the manual any more. Besides there are several laundries on Rue Cler and it was much easier to use them! The location was amazing. Rue Cler could be a Dysneyland creation of a French Street! The flowers, food choices, restaurants, wine, bakeries, shops, all conveniences, and more. It felt like a fantasy walking the streets. Loved being able to sit outside an overlook the activity below. We could not have picked a better location. And it was lovely staying in a private residence not a hotel. We felt like we lived there. It was a nice touch to arrive and have a complimentary bottle of very nice red wine. I would highly recommend this rental.

Comments:It was a great apartment. The people upstairs were noisy on and off and lots of noise from kids in the building at all hours. Honestly, living in NYC it didn't bother me but a couple that is looking for a quieter building might be disturbed. This comment is more to inform staff so you know what to recommend to people and not a complaint from me. I'd go back to that apartment in a heartbeat.
It is very well equipped and up to date. I enjoyed cooking a couple of times in the apartment. Felt like home.

Comments:We had a fantastic stay in the Rue Cler apartment with our two young daughters. We found the apartment to be a bit more spacious than the photos - especially the living room - and it was perfect for our family of four. The location is terrific, and we loved having the market street below us. Each morning one of us would go shop for our breakfast - baguettes from the patisserie, fruit from the fruit market, cheese from the fromagerie. Wonderful. The rain shower was a pleasant surprise in a European bathroom, as well. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back.

Comments:There was more noise than some locations due to the apartment being located on a market street. The noise was acceptable to us with the windows closed at night. The second bed is a sofa sleeper in the living room. The mattress is extremely thin. There is a single futon available for use as well. I would recommend putting the futon on the sofa bed as I did. This was very comfortable, but would not work for more than 1 person.
Renting through VIP was a great experience. I look forward to renting with this company in the future.

Comments:We loved the apartment. Great neighborhood, but since it was at the end of June, the noise from the street was very loud.
I would definitely rent it again but not at that time of year.

Comments:We really enjoyed our stay at the Heavenly Rue Cler apartment. Everything was just as described and we especially enjoyed spending time on the balcony - great people watching on the charming Rue Cler with all its shops and restaurants and with the sight of the Eifel Tower in the background!
